I believe, the only way you can negotiate well with the dealer is when you know everything in detail about the car you will buy. It is always good to do some online research before going to a dealer. For ex: Make, Model, Year and current market value etc. These points helps a lot at the time of negotiations.

The best way to get the best deal on a new car is.  To not be emotionally attached to the car you are trying to buy.  You have to have a take it of leave it attitude.  Don't get me wrong dealers aren't going to lose money on a deal.  However if they think you are hooked on a car they won't budge too much on the price.
