91 Subaru Loyale Ball Joints inspection and replacement

I want to know how to effectively inspect and replace, if necessary the ball joints on the following:

1991 Subaru Loyale
4 cyl 4door base FWD
90000 miles

The right side is starting to knock when on rough pavement and chatters at speeds of 50+ mph when turning or bearing left.
