I've had my '07 Jeep Wrangler Sahara for a little over a year and I have a theory that the angle of the windshield makes it prone to chips and cracks. Working from home has allowed me to keep the mileage low and the vehicle off the road for days at a time. The irony is that even though I don't drive my Jeep on a daily basis, I've managed to "collect" three chips and a 5 inch crack from seemingly insignificant road debris on city and state maintained roads and interstate highways in only 1 year! I wasn't driving off road when I received these chips and the crack, and the debris seemed to cause damage with minimal impact. My previous non-Jeep vehicles had windshields at more sloping angles which leads me to believe that with the near 90 degree angle of the Wrangler windshields, there isn't as much "give" to debris allowing it to "bounce" off of the glass without leaving a permanent chip or crack. Otherwise, I'm just plain unlucky! Anyone else experience repeated chips and/or cracks on their Jeep windshields from typical road debris or know that this might be a known issue with the Jeep windshields?

just curious.... do you live near a gravel pit... a concrete pre mix plant.???? a highway construction site???/
do you live in an area with gravel roads that get oiled down????
around the so cal area trucker have really gotten nailed for loosing gravel... so much so that building inspectors mandate big steel plates at construction sites with angle iron welded on.. so it shakes the gravel loose after loading but before the truck gets on the road... the CHP sites trucks that drop gravel...
there is a jeep specific form on this site...
http://www.jpmagazine.com
you might have a better chance to quiz the many jeep owners there...

I have a 2010 Jeep Liberty...I am getting my second chip fixed tomorrow,( this one cracked) last one was 6 months ago. I was talking to my Progressive Agent, feeling guilty about another claim. He told me he gets calls all the time from Jeep owners. And to think what would happen if I ever went off road with my "Trail Rated" Jeep
