I have an 04 jeep liberty. When i hit my brakes going 35mph or more, there is a shaking in the front wheels, but not the steering. This only happens when I am trying to stop. I was told that i need to replace the front rotors. Any Advice?

it is possible that the rotors are warped.

do you do a lot of high speed braking  with a long wait at the end..  like a long downhill then an off ramp with a signal??

where the rotors can cool except under where the pads are clamped down from holding the jeep in place at the red light???

did it happen after a brake service.. or tire rotation??? or having new tires installed????

can you jack the front wheelsup off the ground and check for free play in the wheel bearing assy...   grabbing the top and bottom of the tire... seeing if there is any play when you lift it...
there have been cases of the wheel bearings wearing and allowing to much play.. at certain speeds you can get the wobbles...

i wish there were more shops that had a brake test chassis dyno...   the rollers in the floor powered by a pair of large electric motors to test braking systems...  not cheep...

so have your rotors changed... make sure that the brake caliper slides are properly lubed with SILGLIDE brake slide  lube.. not dielectric tune up grease...  the tune up grease has silica sand dissolved in it..   until it dries do to heat.. then it becomes sand again..  it is used under ignition modules to transfer heat... some people use it for the wrong use...

be sure to ask for your old parts back...    you can take them to a better automotive machine shop .. have them checked for run out..

some parts stores offerer longer warrantees...   and will stand by them if the new rotors warp also...

putting the tires on with a big air impact is also a cause of warped rotors..

Thank you so much for your advice about the rotors. My hubby changed them out this morning, and it stops perfectly with no more shakes.
