stay connected
I am havinga problem with my car. I have to do a jump start in the mornings and then it stays fully charged durring the day. Then when I let it sit over night it wont start up.. I bought a new battery.. But somthing is still draining it. Nothing is left on over night. plz someone help me..
it takes hours to fully charge a battery .. that has been discharged to the point that it won't start the car...just jumping it may get the car started... but the car is running on the alternator all day.. some autoparts stores have computerized charing system testers...they can test your battery... but it really needs to be fully charged for a proper LOAD test...i would like to know if you have a test light.??? or a digital volt meter... if so... WITH THE ENGINE OFF.. the drivers window down.. the doors shut ... disconnect the battery ... hook the test light between the cable you removed from the post and the post ...if it lights up... you have something drawing power.. if you had a digital volt meter.. you could use the 10 or 15 amps DC and measure it the draw...there are just so many things...with the test light on... start pulling one fuse at a time.. see if the light goes out.. there have been problems with some GMs with a module that keeps some of the circuits powered up until you open and close the drivers door failing.. i have also had a LOT of problems lately with aftermarket radios..many times.. it's just a worn out battery that has reached the end of its life... there are draws that keep the computers memories alive when the car is off... usually about 0.01 amps to 0.02 amps.. i have found cars lately with 0.250 amps.. that would draw the battery down overnight.. thats a quarter amp.. do the test light test... my mom is in her 80's and just did it.. its easy... test lights are usually less than 10 bucks...post what brand autoparts store you have near you...this is what a test light looks likehttp://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnumber=30779
