While driving my 3 month old 2009 Acura TL on Feb 17th 2010 the steering wheel locked up solid. It could not be moved in either direction. Luckily I only glanced off a guard rail before I was able to stop the car. After the incident the steering wheel remained locked so it was flatbed towed to a local Acura dealer in Norwalk CT. They have had the car over two weeks and still have not given me an answer as to what is wrong. Acura corporate (Honda Motor Company in California) has been handling this claim because of the seriousness of the problem. But here is the problem...They are trying to cover it up. They are trying to make it out to be that the "accident" caused the steering failure. I know what happened because I was driving, the steering froze prior to any contact!!! Also, the damage to the vehicle was very minor, just some minor cosmetic damage to the plastic bumper and the fender above the right front wheel. I was only travelling at about 10 mph when my car contacted the guardrail. I am lucky that the steering wheel was still frozen after the "accident" because then they would have never believed me that it happened. I would think that with what is going on with Toyota and all the other car companies about safety recalls that Honda would be handling this better. Can you imagine how bad this could have been if I ended up crashing into another car and hurting someone!!
please fill out the federal government agency form on this page... they are the agency for automotive recalls ...http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/it is how things get resolved...
