Hi, I am new to looking for cars and am looking at used cars. I like the look of Toyota Yaris and Scion TC. Does anyone have any advice on how either of them run and what is a good year? I'm mainly looking for something small, low maintenance, and a little fun. I'm young (recent college grad) and looking for something that suits me... any advice?
I appreciate any feedback!!

Hi,
I would consider the Scion xB as an alternative to the Yaris or TC. They are affordable and stylish. They also provide some utility in being able to carry more stuff then either compact car. Take a look at some that maybe have about 30-40,000 miles on them...they are priced around $11-12,000. Seems like a good price for a reliable vehicle. Good Luck! Bruce

Between the two, I'd go for the TC. The Yaris is small and fun, but maybe a little too small. They're both part of Toyota, which remains well within its reputation for being reliable and affordable cars. My other suggestions would be: Mazda 3, Honda Civic, Nissan Sentra, Kia Spectra... to name a few. If you're in the used car buying market, it is strongly suggested that if you find a car that could be a potential buy, you should get it professionally inspected. You have to be sure of what you're buying, and that there aren't any hidden and/or underlying issues that can't be seen off the bat. There are a handful of companies out there that provide these services, like AiM Mobile Inspections and Carchex. I personally used AiM Mobile for my new (used) car. Hope that helps!

With the Toyota gas paddle problem recently, do you still consider to buy a Toyota?

^ yeah I kind of agree. personally I grew up on Toyota, Camrys especially, and I loved them, but these days I might be a little wary buying a new one (a used one on the other hand ...)
anyway, no experience with the Scion tC, but I've had the Scion xB for a little while now & I love it! fun car.
