For anyone here who lives in Utah or hails from Utah this might concern you more than others. A new bill has been introduced in the Utah State Legislature by Senator Patricia Jones. This bill intends to ban any aftermarket exhaust system that isn't installed by the original manufacturer of the vehicle or meets specifications equivalent to the muffler installed by the original manufacturer of the vehicle.

Any thoughts?

i wonder if this will effect cars raced at the salt flats..

i would bet that this was pushed to the front by a car dealership who wants more exhaust work...

it might also put all the muffler shops in utah out of business..

i wonder if the  this regulation covers cars registered out of state and just passing through.. or visiting..

there was  at least one beach town in orange county cal that cites loud exhaust.. of anything that passes through..

out of state or not..   requiring a fix and a reinspection at their offices and a court date to pay the fine after the correction..

That's a good question actually...I'm going to assume that this applies to Utah vehicles only as passing vehicles wouldn't have a clue as to what the state's law says. At the same time I'm sure a PD might pull someone over and give them a warning letting them know it's illegal to have any aftermarket exhaust system in Utah.
