Can anyone tell me how hard it is replace a vaporator core.  I am medium level mechanic skill and would like to do this myself to save money because I know it is labor intensive.  I bought a Hanes Repair manual and it has no information about this type of repair.  Does anyone know if this type of repair information is available and where.  Thanks

Replacing it is rather straight forward. However you may want to consider a  few things first. The system will be "open up" to the enviroment which means you will loose all your refrigerant. The system will have to be evacuated (sucked out) and recharged with compressor oil and refrigerant. If you replace the component yourself and have some shop recharge system, you will have to pay again if you did not seal system and everything leaks out. If the shop installs and recharges most will give you some type of warranty on the work, say 3 to 6 months. So, unless you got all the refrigerant and equipment to suck out and recharge, I wouldn't recommend a DIY attempt.

The Chrysler service manual for the T&C will run $90 + shipping. Here's a site to purchase from... https://techauthority.gltghosting.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CustomerHome?storeId=10051&langId=-1&catalogId=10051 ...You will need have the system evacuated and removal of the dash is required. You may need some specialized "Chrysler" A/C tools. I wouldn't do it unless I had a lot of time on my hands. I wouldn't have anyone else work on it until I got a second and third opinion. What's wrong with the original evaporator?
