I have a 1999 Grand Cherokee with the V8.  I have two questions.  First, when the vehicle is first fired up , when cold , it starts and dies.  I have to keep it running for a couple of minutes , until warm , and then it idles fine.  It just started this suddenly.
Next , when the heater is on one side of the vents blows cold while the other side blows hot.  I saw a "heat blend switch" on a parts store's website and was wondering if that could be the problem.  I don't have access to a code scanner immediately.  Any help will be appreciated

the idle problem .. might be the Idle air control valve..    they have 2 small screws to hold them in place on the side of the throttle body... and have a 4 wire connector on the end.   they are 35 bucks over at AZ... it will usually take a torx driver to remove and install them... do not try to operate the engine with it removed from the throttle body.. the ecm extends the tip till it stops.. you could not hold it.. so it will just fall apart.. no way easily to reinstall it ..

here is a picture of what it should look like

you might want to use some cheep brake cleaner to clean the hole it mounts through...  don't spray too much into the motor.. you don't want to lock the motor with a bunch of spray cleaner...

as for your heater problem..

here is a picture of the various actuators...   it is possible that one of them has failed.. a vacuum hose could have failed... the control head with the knobs could have failed..

you can gently pull the vacuum hoses off the actuators.. use another piece of vacuum hose from the parts store to test them .. if they leak vacuum.. they need to be replaced..   is it also possible that something has fallen through the dash vents and jammed the blend doors.. loose any pencils??
