I have a Dodge Durango 1999 4x4 slt, with 318 magnum 5.2 engine, we had it on computer & changed all sensors for codes it brought up. Going about 50, 55 mph it starts to sputter & almost dies, when it idling it over loads with gas, but no service engine light is on. Can anyone help me?
Thank you

you need to monitor the ignition system...  and the fuel pressure...

got a timing light????   can you tape the trigger on...    hook the clamp onto the coil wire..    feed the wires out from under the hood and hang the timing light on the windshield wiper...  so you can see if the ignition high voltage is dropping out when it starts to misfire..

i would really think that a close examination of the ignition system...

the cap and rotor..  the coil wire...  the ignition coil..

it could also be the pick up coil that fits in under the cap and rotor.. they plug in...

but... the ignition needs to be tested...

most drivability mechanics have hand held scopes.. to do this with...    they can hook up to several wires.. and do the test drive..   when the problem happens.. they can push the save data  and it will save the data before and after you pushed the button so they can review the data recorded...

but its usually more cost effective to first ..   replace the cap , rotor, coil , spark plug wires and spark plugs...   coils only cost 33 bucks at AZ..      i would also change the fuel filter... and examine the old one to see how clogged it was...

Have taken to dealer & put on there computer, done every thing they said do, but still not running right. Still spitting & sputtering, will run good wide open not at 20 to 50 mph & can smell gas fumes really bad. Have put all new plugs & wires, new sensors still doing it.

new plugs and wires does not fix a worn distributer cap and rotor... and a LEAKING ignition coil...

it is possible that the fuel pressure regulator has gone bad and is leaking into the intake manifold..

pull the vacuum hose off it while the engine is running.. just for a few seconds..  if you get gas squirting.. you have found the problem...

the scan tool... will not diagnose basic  mechanical or basic electrical  problems..

coils.. go bad.. especially those .. they are held on with 2, 6 mm bolts.. 10 mm heads..   take 5 minutes to change..

the distributer cap and rotor.. also get corrosion build up from the electrical arcing that takes place each time there is a spark sent down the coil wire..

want my friends phone number.. you can all him.. he did the coil and cap.rotor and fixed his misfiring on his 99 D1500 3.9... to where is drivable again.. he also cleaned and replaced the idle air control valve..  and cleaned the throttle body also.. installed a new air cleaner mounting gasket..

The fuel regulator/filter is part of the fuel pump assembly.
to get a new fuel regulator/filter you have to buy a new fuel pump Assembly..
List price around $397.00 for an aftermarket.

Which vacuum hose do you pull off to check it?

There is no vacuum line for this type of fuel pressure regulator..
The only way to check the pressure is with a fuel pressure gauge
connected to the valve on fuel rail.

Just because you hear the fuel pump running,
doesn't mean you have the proper fuel pressure..
Check for the proper fuel pressure? And check for injector pulse..
