I have a 02' Wrangler and I am having trouble with my transmission. When I throw it into 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 5th, and reverse nothing happens and it won't stall when I release the clutch as if it still thinks it's in N. It will engage when it is in 4th gear though. Any thoughts on what could be wrong?

Stripped or melted the teeth off the input gear and the lower cluster gear. 4th is strait thru, thats why it still works.

Its going to need at least an input and counter shaft plus a bearing kit. You wont know what else until its apart. before you give it to a shop price an exchanged rebuilt from someone reputable. Where are you located?

well i cant help you i am in NY. Your best bet is either a used trans or an exchange rebuild.A trans shop could rebuild it for you but most trans shops just replace the obviously bad parts and dont know how to measure the tolerances of other parts that appear to be ok{specifically this trans} If you buy a used trans try to find one where the bolts on the trans still have a little shine left to them. That will be a low mileage trans.
