My blinker lights, brake lights and 4 way/hazzard lights don't work. I've changed all of the fuses and no luck. Everything else including the cruise control, wipers, etc. work just fine. PLEASE help me to figure out what this might be~and if you know, what it will cost to fix it.
Thank you sooooooooo much!    Lynn

the last one of these that i found with major problems..  to get to the tail lights.. you have to unbolt the tail light housings..

when reinstalling them... the wiring gets pinched..  between the tail light housing and the back of the body...

does it blow fuses????

now that we have covered the obvious...

do the fuses have power?????

i have worked on several other fords of about that vintage...

the terminals that grip the fuse and relay contact blades sometimes get loose...

ford actually has a test.. where they use a spring loaded scale  to pull a connector out of each terminal... if it fails.. time to replace the terminal...

i usually take a carbide scribe.. or a small hook tool... usually the 90 degree bend ...  stick it into the corner of the terminal.. with care and forethought.. this if done just right..  it will tighten the grip on the individual blades of the fuses and relays...

do you still have the Owners manual... that shows the fuse and relay locations..

autozone.com probably has the wiring diagrams.. but they have not had fuse and relay locations.. as are found in other online sources..

oh... did you change the bulbs..?????

the turn signal  and hazard lights also have flashers up under the dash board.....

the last 96 i worked on... is where i found the short.. the car owner had the dash board apart.. the carpets all pulled up.. the seats out.. following the wire that was shorted..  i knew where those wires went.. stepped to the rear.. pulled the tail light housings.. and found a smashed wire.. he had also made a mistake... in buying 99 cent store fuses...   buy only real .. name brand fuses..  BUSS... is usually what is available..  bulk packages are available in some stores..   30 fuses for 8 bucks.. verses 5 fuses for 3...   name brand.. in yellow boxes...

never multi colored... flat on a card.. for 99 cents.. those are not fuses.. they do not blow...  they let the current flow... until the smoke comes out of the wires... flame to follow...    i get 2 or 3 cars a year in with shorts... and burned wiring.. and imported fuses...
