I have a '92 Jeep cherokee laredo, (4x4 automatic) the steering all of a sudden feel real loose. The driver side tire ive noticed does not turn as sharp as the passenger side. It has also started to shake a little bit when pushing on the brakes, not bad yet but I noticed it. Can anyone help me out? I already have new shocks to put on it but what else do i need to replace while i have it torn apart?
usually... with the wheels on the ground... i have somebody wiggle the steering wheel back and forth just a *** a few inches.. while you lay on the ground under the front of the jeep... look and feel the various tie rod ends were they attach.. see if one part moves before the other part...be sure to watch the link that runs from the frame on the drivers side to the passenger side... they have been known to wear... and i have had the brackets on the drivers side to the frame come lose..if your jeep is up in the air.. and you have a big pair of channel lock pliers ... you can squeeze the tie rod ends.. if they compress.. you probably have found bad ones...you might also want to check the unitized hub and wheel bearing assemblies for play... i have had to change the ball joints on just a few of those.. if you have to change the hub and bearing assys... be sure to check the universal joints in the front axle..you do know.. that there is a jeep magazine on this site also...http://www.jpmagazine.comand 8 or 9 other truck magazines also.. many of them cover 4x4s and jeeps..
