My 1995 Legacy standard shift 4wd wagon is still young with 125K miles. Or is it? For the first time, the engine is sweating oil. The repair will cost about $1000. Is oil sweating typical for a 14 year old Suburu with 125K miles? From your experience, can you tell me what other major repairs I may be looking at in the future? Perhaps its the age of the car and not the miles which is causing the oil sweat? The engine has been well maintained since I bought the car new.My mechanic claims that Toyota Camry and Honda Accord would not have oil sweats at 125K miles. He says that Suburu engines don't hold up like Toyotas and Hondas. I've also put in three clutches. Could be my shifting isn't right on. The trunk lock sticks 50% of the time. Will lubrication help the trunk lock to open?I will probably sell the Legacy, since I would like to switch to an automatic. There is some rust on the body above the left rear wheel. There is a smaller amount above the right rear wheel. Otherwise the finish is very good due to regular washing & waxing. Do you think that the car has any value as a trade in? Thank you for your comments about this otherwise dependable trustworthy Suburu.
Can someone help me out? I'm new to this forum and can't figure out how to start a thread. (yes, I registered). Thanks.
