i added a bottle of fuel injector cleaner to my 98 dodge avenger. now a week later it runs like crap. have i ruined it or will it work itself out of the system?
how many bottle into how much gas????was it a name brand injector cleaner?????could be a simultaneous occurrence ????????how much gas do you have in the car now... filled up an any strange gas stations.. has there been any heavy rain or flooding in your area.. or in areas where the gas station is..??? you might also call the gas station .. where you have purchased gas at... there have been instances.. of excessive amounts of ethanol.. you can also get a fuel test kit.. see how much alcohol is actually in your tank.. oh.. the reason i ask how many bottles... a bunch of years ago.. i got a call.. from another shop.. they had a car that would not stop smoking.. they had done 2 valve jobs.. replaced the fuel injectors and a whole bunch of other stuff.. i unhooked the fuel rail... hooked it up to the fuel injector cleaning machine.. put in some gas i supplied.. the smoke stopped in a few minutes.. ...i told them to drain the tank.. or drop it and get it all out.. blow out the lines.. put fresh gas after they put it all back together..a few days later.. it was still smoking.. i ask the tech were the old gas was... he said he had gotten rid of it.. WHERE>> i want to see it.. i stood on his toes.. bent him backward .. slightly over the fender.. where's the gas you took out.. he told me that they had dropped the tank. blew out the lines.. drained the tank... but the gas looked good. so they put it back in.. at that exact moment.. the car owner came up.. i realized that he was the bosses first cousin.. i pinned him against the car.. asking what happened.. he put in 5 bucks of gas ... and it started smoking.. What else... a bottle of fuel injector cleaner.. how many.. i leaned in a little more.. he admitted to 5 bottles into about 5 gallons of gas... so.. how many bottles... into your full tank.. sorry that i don't keep up with the TSB's on dodges.... there might be one about not using some brands of injector cleaner.. i am not sure.. is your check engine light on???? got a scan tool to get codes out????
