i have 99 maxima with 165k miles 2 months ago it started a starting problem , 3 weeks ago it stoped starting (it will start after about 10 minutes of trying) so i burned the starter and i put a new one , and i took it to nissan dealership where they tested it for 1 week and they told me it needs a new computer ,so i got a used one but it still not starting then they told me it "MAYBE" the flywheel and it cost 800$ to be fixed and they cant guaranty that will fix the problem , so they r guessing , this is my only car .... can anybody help me ???

time to invest in a scan tool...  that displays live data...  and nissan specific data...   but generic will usually ***

there are a whole bunch of things to test..   first.. you need to look at the data on the scan tool... see if the crank signal is getting through.. see if the rpm is getting through...  see about the crank and cam sensors..    or what ever sensors that car uses ...

see if the relays are working properly.. and that power is getting through...

there are a bunch of pages of NO start diagnostics in the factory manuals..

i take it that eventually you can get it to start... does it turn on the check engine light.?????   set any codes?????

air... fuel, spark.    have you got all three...

i am not familiar with the maxima fuel injection.. i will look into it...

you are going to need either a printed manual... or electronic version... this is a fully computerized car... you just cannot swap parts until it starts...  you have to use the massive amount of computer access available for just this reason... to make it easy to fix...

there is really limited free info at autozone.com

but full data over at eautorepair.net  or alldatadiy.com      and you will need a scan tool.. and possibly a hand held scope.. at least a digital volt meter...

Start with the basics ie. fuel and spark. First spray some starting fluid into the intake and crank it over. does it fire up? if so then the problem is fuel related.
If not pull a spark plug and plug it into the wire boot then ground the plug to the engine and crank it. if there is no spark then you can begin diagnosis of a no spark issue.
