I have a 2000 Ford Explorer that just "quit" going into reverse with no indications prior to failure. When you put the shifter into reverse it feels like the brakes are on and there is a loud "clunk" sound. All forward gears work perfectly and shifts just fine. Any Ideas?
Thanks John

Can you push the vehicle backwards in nuetral? If it was the trans binding up it would definately effect at least one of the forward gears also.It could be a transfer case problem.unless the brakes are stuck.
