I purchased a (used) 2007 Chevy Silverado from a local dodge dealership that is still under its 3/36k warranty. Recently, the mounts busted on the exhaust pipe causing the the whole exhaust to hang from the manifold (I think). It turns out that the muffler and tail pipe were replaced by aftermarket items so the Chevy dealership will not cover it as a warranty item. Since I was not told about the non OEM parts and that they claimed to have gone through the truck and stated that the truck was still covered by the original warranty, are they responsible to fix the current problem I have? I spoke wirth the seller's service dept and they stated that they were not liable for non oem parts but stated that I needed to talk to sales. So I am currently waiting for that call back.
Does anyone know if the selling dealership is liable for that repair?
Any help on this topic would be greatly apprecieated.
BTW: The sale was in Washington State.

take it to a muffler shop.... or find a performance muffler shop... have them fix the hanger... its that simple..
you should not have to replace the entire exhaust system do to a muffler bracket breaking.. tearing .. coming loose...
nobody is going to cover your repair as it was not an oem part..
i have dealt with some muffler shops in washington and oregon.. i did not have a good result.. one shop told me they could not fix my exhaust as they could not get my truck into their service bay... but i don't want you to fix my truck.. i want you to repair the pipe.. its laying on the floor by the bay door.. sorry .. we cannot work on your truck as we cannot fit you truck in our service bay... after 5 or 6 of these answers.. i was ready to jump the counter.. i managed to get the manager to come out and to replace the broken part of the pipe.. .. but then .. he got back into the we cannot fix your truck as we cannot get it into the service bay... i then told him i will put it back on... . he changed his tune... " you cannot work on your truck in our parking lot.. "
so i drove it into the middle of the street.. blocked traffic.. put the pipe back on in 2 minutes and drove away..
get the hangers fixed.. ask them to see if they can do a better job than the previous guy.. that will make them feel good about their abilitys..

I do not need to replace all of the exhaust system, it was already replaced prior to me purchasing it from the Dodge dealership.
Just to close this issue, I spoke with the sales Mgr and he is currently "considering" my request and asked me if I knoew of anyone who needs a car and that my answer would impact how fast he made a decision. I stopped by an autoparts store and found that I can fix it myself for about $10. So I will be fixing the pipes over teh weekend.
I will also be calling the dealership back letting them know that I no longer need their services and that their lack of initial response will be a consideration on where I purchase my next vehicle.
