I rep[laced the engine on my 1999 Dodge Ram 2500 Cummings with a 2003 5.9 liter cummings, basically the same engine.
new engine will not accelerate. DRB3 diagnosed crankshaft position sensor (CPS) not active.
New engine is not equipped with CPS!! the "Crown gear for the CPS mounted on the crankshaft of the old engine does not fit the new engine.
Any advice on converting the electronic control for the VP44 fuel pump to work without the CPS.
The entire harness form the vehicle from which the new engine came from is available.
Engine side mounted computer as well as  vehicle fire wall mounted computer. Only difference, the engine came from a 4X2 2003 Dodge RAM 2500.
Thanks in advance for advice

copy and paste the link in a new window....  you will find all kinds of cummins info from the various truck magazines on this site..  some magazines you may not have heard of... and most have forums just like this... but there are swaps going on just like you did... and i bet someone has figured a way around it ... or a replacement part that will fit..
