Just bought a 04 Sliverado this spring and it has a wicked shift from 1st to 2nd. Have a buddy who thought it could be a broken accumalator spring,so we tore apart and replaced but they seemed ok. Fluid is clean,filter new. This is the only problem that it has all the time,some times it seems to be a little eratic going down road,but not very noticeable. If I have weight on or towing,it is not noticeable. Or if i am getting after it it is not as bad,but other times it really drives me nuts. any and all info much appreciated.  

The first thing you should do is scan the computer system for codes.The computer system can cause the trans to shift hard for many trans or non trans electrical or sensor failures.The reason you dont notice the hard shift when towing or getting on it is the trans line pressure would normally be high under those conditions.
