I recently had installed a car amp in my car and had no capacitor in it.after about 5 days my car's  alternator went so i had taken it to the shop to get fixed they had put  a refurbished one in the car.Now almost 2 months later I'm having problems just wondering if its the alternator again but my amp is not connected and has not been since i got the new alternator put in.I try'd to take the negative charge off the battery to see if the car would run without battery it won't.also i try'd both my new battery's and they did start the car a first but the car just died down while driving i had to keep rev ing the car to keep some charge also my lights are flashing off and on and doing weird stuff coming on when keys are out. just wondering if anyone knows if this is definitly a alternator or not please help me out!!!!i can give more details if needed THANKS

taking the battery cable off with the engine running.. is wrong.... it will burn out more than your alternator...

only use a digital volt meter..

charging voltage over 14.1 .. on that car.. should be over 14.5...

if you pull the cable off... the electrons that the alternator is creating have no place to go.. so they pile up...  this pile up is a voltage spike...    the voltage inside the alternator can go over 100 volts for an instant.. this takes out the diodes.. they are usually rated for 100 volts 25 amps PIV..

do you disconnect your water main at your water meter to check to see if you have water...   that sudden surge of water will let you know.. but you cannot see electrons..  but they are there..

stop disconnecting the alternator..  buy a digital volt meter.. they start at 5 bucks..  you never need more than a 25 buck one to do 95 percent of home automotive needs..

Did you replace the battery? By continuously draining a battery to nothing due to a bad alternator you can cause damage to the internals of it that can cause it not to hold a charge. Have the battery tested.
