used/new sedan?

Hello everyone!

My family wants to buy a sedan under $20k out the door.  For a year it will be a family car but it will be turned over to me afterward, during which I may drive it across the country.

I sat in a 2008/9 toyota camry with the seat lowered and 3-5 inches of headroom.  The problem is that my dad is 3 inches taller than me.  He should be the one testing the car, but we'll assume it's a perfect fit since it is one of the bigger sedans and there isn't many other choices.

Additional constraints:
-4 cylinder (or just good mpg)
-automatic transmission

I did some research: according to this vehicle dependability study, buick, toyota, honda, mercury, and infinity are among the most dependable.

Next stop is honda accord, but after that we don't have any more plans to look around.  Aside from camry and accord, does anyone have more suggestions?

Thank you very much.

I understand that if I tell you Hyundai is something you should consider, you would think its bias, since I work at a Hyundai dealership.  However, as I started to work here I began to understand the amazing quality and value they bring to the automotive round table.  Because of their major improvement, they come with a 10 year/100,000 mile powertrain and 5 year/60,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty!  Hyundai cars are thousand plus less expensive than other brands out there.  We have great mileage on our sedans, such as the Sonata Inline-4 which gets 22/32 mpg.  The Sonata is classified as a Large-car, although we are competing in the mid-size sedan segment.  In addition to the interior, we have one of the most spacious trunks in the market, which is good for family trips.  Give the Sonata a shot, I think you'll be surprised!
