Need help seeing if trying to be ripped off.  Our 2008 Nissan Rogue went in to get trans fluid levels checked, they suggested because it is at 30,000 miles we should do a transmission flush.  They told us the cost for the flush is $425.00...I was shocked!  I live in Hawaii and I am aware things are more expensive here, but is this as crazy as it seems to me?  It has the New CVT transmission (something dealing with belts and pullys insted of traditional trans..no up or down shifting heard)  We maintain the car well with all the services it has required, isn't it a tad early to worry about Trans gunk build up? and for that much!! Help!

Hello,

I had my 30,000 mile service on 08-11-09 here in Kansas and the entire service was $464.74.  This included the new air filter, microfilter, oil change, transmission service (I also have the CVT in my Rogue) and coolant service.  You might double-check to make sure that they weren't quoting the entire 30,000 service.  If you are debating whether or not you should have the transmission flushed, I would do it.  I heard the service manager tell another customer that Nissan denied payment for a new transmission to someone because they didn't perform the proper transmission maintenance.  Not sure if this was his scare tactic or not, but I decided to go ahead and do it.  Hope that helps!
