My battery died during the night and i gave it a jump to started, but i didn't. It had problems starting and when it started the lights, dashboard and the miles meter just wouldn't stop flashing. I drove it for a bit to see if the alternator would charge it up a little more, but i turn it off and it would just not turn on again. What could the problem be?

when a car battery is deeply discharged... a quick jump and running the motor for a while will not properly recharge the battery...
it will overwork the alternator if you try to recharge a deeply discharged battery ...
i would also look carefully at how dirty the battery terminals are ... any corrosion between the terminal and the post will prevent the battery from getting the full amount of charge...
get the battery charged on a battery charger... 10 amps for at least an hour...
then try the jeep...
i would also examine the battery.. look at the ends of the case... if the ends are pushed out.. it is probably time to replace it..
with a fully charged battery.. the volt meter on the dash board should show 14 to 15 volts with the engine running..
please...... use a digital volt meter to test the charging voltage... DO not ever let anybody pull the battery cable off to test the charging system... it will damage the alternator.. and probably several thousand dollars of electronics in your jeep..
