A work horse van - when it warms up - it stops - anyone know why? It has had a number of parts replaced - fuel injector seems to continue the flow of gas to excess after the engine warms up - Help!

under the drivers side dash board... there is a little connector... thats for a scan tool to plug into... it is not for an OBD2 scan tool... it works with OBD1 gm specific scan tools... with that you can view codes... view live sensor data...
if you look in a service manual.. it will show you how to jump the A and B terminal with a paper clip on that connector and turn the key to the on position and count the flashes of the check engine light...
thats where you start..
other things that can make one of those die...
ignition module failures... they do go intermittent sometimes... the pick up coils fail... look for green colored grease in the connector to the module... if the grease is green... replace the pickup coil or the distributer...
if you have a small cap HEI ignition.. with the remote coil... pull the distributer cap... look straight down the shaft.. see if the magnet that is riveted into the reluctor assy on the shaft is cracked...
examine the ignition coil... look at the outside of the plastic where it is close to the square frame... look for circular dust patterns... if you see them... the high voltage might be leaking out... i have fixed a lot of misfires by just changing the ignition coil... the rivets that hold the coil brackets on are easily cut off with a pair of wire cutters.. new machine screws come with the new coil...
have you changed the fuel filter???? and picked up new orings for it... they should be tan or reddish in color..
does your electric fuel pump make noise??? whhhiirrrrrrrrrrrrrr...
this is the best i can do with... my engine dies when the engine warms up....
