I am looking for others who have a Dodge Journey and have had a problem with the rotars getting warped. It started with a gentle shaking back and forth of the steering wheel and got worse, took it in and they said the rotars were warped.....only had been driving it for a couple months! It got fixed under warranty, then was right back again 3 months later and then a thrid time 2 months later - what the heck?

if the wheels get rotated.. and the tech uses an impact gun to install them .. that can start the problem..
if the caliper slide lube is incorrect , dry, rusty, it can also cause the rotors to warp... as the brakes only apply pressure to one side of the rotor... the caliper has to be able to slide totally free of any restriction for the system to work...
it might also be possible that parking on hills with the wheel turned into the curbing can warp the rotors... i have run across this just a few times...
if you have a large downhill grade that you have to stop at the bottom... this can also overheat the rotors... when the rotors are cooling at the bottom of the hill while you are stopped.. the brakes being applied will keep the heat in the rotor behind the pads and has been shown to cause warping also...
i know this is not what you ask for ... but the information is what you are going to need...
oh... and some oil change places will pull your tires every time you change oil... to see if the brakes need to be done... so you might not even know the tires are coming off..
i wonder if the rotors were turned.. or replaced... each time..????

Brake rotors also can get warped from driver riding the brake pedal, or if they get hot and then you drive through a water puddle this also can warp the rotors i have not yet seen a journey with warped brake rotors been working on them since they were new not a very common problem on that particular vehicle.

Does the brake peddle pulsate when you apply the brakes? if so then the rotors are warped. if you are experiencing the shaking in the steering wheel when not applying the brakes then the problem is not brake related. If it is a continuous problem with faulty rotors then an upgrade to vented or slotted rotors may be a viable option. after the rotors are replaced make sure that the lug nuts are torqued to factory spec as unnevenly tightened and over tightened lug nuts can cause rotors to warp.

Yes, these rotors warp like wet wood. We need to cut or replace rotors on our Dodge Journey like we change oil. The car is driven properly and is serviced correctly.
