It's time for today's question-with-no-right-answer: why do any of these nameplates still exist?
- Mercury - Buick - GMC - Saturn - Saab - Suzuki - Isuzu - Scion - Maybach

One report said that Ford keeps Mercury around because some shoppers won't buy anything with a blue oval on it. (Fool the customer instead of fixing the car -- how's that for long-term strategy?)

Why Scion? I don't think the xA and xB are any good, but I think the Scion tC looks like a decent car that is affordable.

They could have just called it Celica instead of letting a 35-year-old name die. A torquier, roomier, cheaper Celica -- isn't that what everyone wanted?
Toyota's self-stated problem was that everyone thinks they're boring. Their solution: take all the cool cars OUT of the lineup, making it even more boring.
Scion just got some suspicious scores on JD Power's latest survey.
