what my do is skip when i stop???
do you mean ... when you have to stop you can feel them like skipping?????/ on, off, on,, off, really fast...
the antilock brake system does do that when you are stopping on slippery surfaces... or during panic stops...
perhaps... i should describe how the system works...
there are speed sensors at each wheel..(usually on the back of the part the wheel bolts to) . little toothed rings that go around... there are wheel speed sensors that transmit signals up wires to the antilock computer... the faster the tires go the higher the signal voltage or signal pulses are transmitted...
the antilock computer looks at all of these signals... during normal braking... the wheels all slow down at the same speed... so the signals from each wheel sensor match.... if one drops below the others... the antilock computer sees that... and instantly blocks the flow of fluid to that wheel and takes control of it.. when the line is blocked.. the computer has the ability to release and apply pressure to the individual wheels... trying to release the one with the lowest signal to stop it from skidding... it can do this many times a second... and the systems are designed... that you will feel it... lets you know that something is happening... usually the antilock warning lights on the dash board will flash during the time the system is controlling the wheel speed... if your antilock warning lights... and most cars have 2...stay on... time for a trip to a mechanic with a proper scan tool.. when the system sees a fault in the system... it sets a code and turns on the warning light all the time... alerting you to a problem...
if you live on a loose dirt road... a gravel road... an ICY road... see if you start slowing down farther back with less force.. if the system still activates...
