93 Ford Taurus turns off at stops

My car, a 1993 Ford Taurus, ran fine for years, until one day a few months ago the starter died.  After the starter was replaced, the engine sometimes turns off if I stop.  At first it only seemed to turn off at the beginning of a drive when I came to a stop sign.  The battery light came on, the RPMs dipped low, the car shuddered, and then it turned off and would start up again instantly and run fine for the rest of the drive.  Now it does it if I'm sitting at a stop light for too long, or if I go through a busy drive-thru.

So far, it's always started up again immediately after shutting off, but I worry that it will continue getting worse and that the car will die entirely.  Any ideas what could be causing it?  Since I never once had any problems like this before I had the starter replaced, I figure something was probably changed or damaged during that operation, but I don't know.  Any help would be greatly appreciated, I can try to give more details if that will help but I don't know much about cars.

the throttle body bore is getting dirty..

crud from the PCV and EGR systems fill the intake with black carbon deposits...  this gets up to the back of the throttle blades..  reduces the amount of air leaking past them...   when this is reduced enough ... the engine will stall.. as the idle air control motor cannot handle the difference..   the idle air control motor may also be going bad..

it could also be the power steering pressure switch on the power steering pressure hose...  WHAT...       yes.. there is a switch on the pressure line..   it tells the computer when you are turning the wheel hard enough to bring the pressure up enough to close the switch..   this signals the ecm to raise the idle speed by increasing voltage to the idle air control motor...

what happens when you unplug the electrical connector from the back of the idle air control motor...  does the motor drop to a really slow rpm...  plug it back in..  see if the motor picks back up...

one more thing...  there is a transmission manual lever position switch on the top of the transmission..  those sometimes get splashed with antifreeze...  the manual position switch sends various voltages back to the ecm depending on which gear the lever is in..  if this switch goes bad... and they *** they will throw voltage spikes into the ecm...

you need to have someone with a scan tool with the proper OBD1 FORD EEC4 connector and have them do a KOEO test.. and a KOER test...   getting out any codes...  writing them down..  after the second test.. clearing the codes.. and retesting the system... if you notice...  when the are doing the KOER test.. ( Key On Engine Running) it will ask the tech to pump the brake pedal and turn the steering wheel fast...   all EEC4  key on engine running tests ask for these inputs ...
