Recently Ford got recognized as the top quality automaker in the world. This means that Toyota is losing the crown of quality to one of the Detroit Three. To most people this is unheard of as Toyota has always been quality while Ford has been known to have there share of problems. So what does this mean? Is Toyota failing to impress consumers? Not really. In fact both Toyota and Ford ranked on the 80 percent tile when it came to customer satisfaction, more than any other competitor. The article stated the following:
RDA's research is used by a number of automakers, both foreign and domestic, and has historically tracked closely with other independent research by firms such as J.D. Power and Associates. Its second quarter study showed new Ford, Mercury and Lincoln cars and trucks had 1,185 issues per 1,000 vehicles. Toyota had 1,215 problems, while Honda Motor Co. had 1,291.
Both Toyota and Ford had an 80 percent positive customer satisfaction rating, Fowler said.
Yet at the same time with all the success Ford is earning some consumers are still shady about purchasing a domestic. What must Ford do in order to stay on top of Toyota and the rest of the automakers? More importantly, what must Ford do to gain more market share and prove to consumers that Domestic vehicles are as good or better than the competition? Whatever happens, it looks like Ford is giving Toyota a run for its money and the Blue Oval will most likely be the Top U.S. Automaker soon.

I think Ford's already doing what they need to be doing...bringing out stylish, well-equipped, affordable cars & trucks. I think Toyota's beginning to lose it's luster with a lot of customers. They're good cars, but boring as heck. Even the new CEO of Toyota admitted as much.
I just read today that Ford is coming out with a 2.0L EcoBoost 4-cylinder that has 230+ hp and 240+ lb./ft. of torque. They're not saying what it's going in yet, but a good bet is the Fusion/Milan and the new Escape. I say offer it in a 5-door Focus, and they might have a chance at getting my business.
