My 01 Taurus brakes make a grinding noise from the left front only when the car is almost stopped. Most but not all stops are affected , I can let off and reapply brakes and the grind will go away. I've replaced pads and rotors , am suspecting abs problem. Switched front abs sensors out with used ones from another car. This did not help , I have unplugged the left abs sensor and drove car for test, the noise did not appear. I'm greatfull for any help on this. Also have OBD II code P456. Thanks for any help.

P0456 is a code for the evaporative system..   possibly just a loose gas cap or filling the tank with the engine running...
there are trouble shooting charts for each code...

with a scan tool... most scan tools are capable of looking at snap freeze frame data recorded by the computer when the trouble code was set...     really makes it easier to diagnose when you can see what the car was doing when the problem was recorded...

the antilock system when activated will have a lamp on the dash board that lights up when the system is activated...

if one of the antilock brake lights on the dash board is on while driving...   you need to get the anti lock system scanned.. it will also set trouble codes...

because you have driven the antilocks with one of the sensors unplugged...  scan for abs codes...  write them down...   clear the codes... drive the car again.. and rescan...     were you able to examine the wheel speed reluctors... the gear looking devices that the antilock system uses to generate signal voltage with...  if the teeth get chipped... sand blasted, cracked.. they may not create the proper signal strength as the other reluctors...   if the signal strength does not match wheel to wheel... you may get antilock problems...

also... are the tires the same diameter and have the same amount of wear???????????????????  if one is new... and the other warn.. you may have problems....
