I was wondering if I could get some help on how to take my steering wheel off (it has an airbag) and how to get the "turn signal indicator" out of the steering column area. My turn signals don't work. It is NOT the fuse, the bulb, or the flasher. I would need STEP-BY-STEP instructions so I can do the work myself without having to go to a mechanic.
I can't find any info on how to get to the turn signal indicator online. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

what does not work on the turn signals??????
check all the bulbs first... try the hazard flasher switch.. make sure all the bulbs flash brightly...
i would also try some wd 40 sprayed into the switch with the key off.. and working the switch... sometimes the grease on the contacts drys and prevents the spring tension from allowing the contacts from contacting..
if your turn signal switch is broken... after checking all the bulbs...
and you have tried replacing the turn signal flashers... there are 2... one for the hazards and another for the turn signal...
several sets of instructions
steering wheel REMOVAL & INSTALLATION
See Figures 1 through 11
Position the wheels in the straight ahead position, then turn the ignition to the LOCK position. Disconnect the negative battery cable. If equipped with SRS, wrap the negative cable with insulated tape and wait at least 60 seconds before continuing the procedure, in order to allow the air bag system time to disarm. Fig. Fig. 1: Unfasten the negative battery cable retaining nut ...
Fig. Fig. 2: ... then remove the negative cable from the terminal and wrap with insulated tape
Fig. Fig. 3: On 1990-94 vehicles, unfasten the screws, then remove the horn pad by pushing it upward
For 1990-94 vehicles, remove the horn pad from the steering wheel by unfastening the retaining screws from the rear of the pad, then push the pad upward to remove. Detach horn button connector. For 1995-98 vehicles, unfasten the retaining screws, the carefully pull the SRS inflate module away from the steering wheel. Detach the connector(s), then remove the module from the vehicle, then place the module, top side facing up, on a suitable workbench. Fig. Fig. 4: Unfasten the inflator module retaining screws
Fig. Fig. 5: Carefully pull the inflator module away from the steering wheel ...
Fig. Fig. 6: ... then detach the connector from the SRS inflator module
Remove steering wheel retaining nut.
Fig. Fig. 7: Loosen the retaining nut at the center of the steering wheel ...
Fig. Fig. 8: ... then remove the steering wheel shaft nut
Matchmark the steering wheel to the shaft.
Fig. Fig. 9: Use a pen to matchmark the steering wheel-to-shaft position
Use a steering wheel puller to remove the steering wheel. Do not hammer on steering wheel to remove it. The collapsible column mechanism may be damaged. Fig. Fig. 10: Assemble a suitable puller on the steering wheel, tighten the center screw ...
Fig. Fig. 11: ... then remove the steering wheel from the shaft
To install: Line up the matchmarks and install the steering wheel to the shaft. Tighten the steering wheel attaching nut to 33 ft. lbs. (45 Nm) for 1990-94 vehicles or to 30 ft. lbs. (41 Nm) for 1995-98 vehicles. For 1990-94 vehicles, reconnect the horn connector and install the horn pad, securing it with the retaining screws. For 1995-98 vehicles, attach the connector(s), then install the SRS inflate module and secure with the retainers. If equipped with SRS, remove the tape from the battery cable. Connect the negative battery cable. If equipped with SRS, turn the ignition ON and check the SRS warning light for proper operation.

Thank you for the help. I just called the junkyards in my area and none of them have the part I'm looking for. I did check the flashers, bulbs, and even the fuse, so I am pretty sure it's internal in the steering column (I think it's the gearbox with the wires that make the turn signals work). I will get working on this and hopefully have the part I need by the following weekend to get it up and running again. Again, thank you for the instructions!
