My 2000 Honda Civic EX (automatic) shifts relatively well, however I notice when I begin to accelerate: 0-20km/h --- RPM 2000-3000x --- then goes into 2nd gear (which is OK) then, the RPM goes to 3500-4000x at a speed of 50-60km/h before it changes to the 3rd gear. Seems to me that the timing is off and wondering what this could be related to and if it is a concern? The gears do not slip or anything... Just seems like it's a timing issue. Mileage: 200,000kms (timing belt changed at 100,000kms) Any advice would be appreciated!

got any trouble codes????? any car newer than 1996 has an OBD2 connector somewhere under the dash... easily accessible.. scan tools that read live data... code readers are also available but only display codes...
there are several things in honda automatics that can cause that.. but at 200,000 miles... it is getting close to rebuild time...

I have to bring it in the shop for another problem, so I'll ask the mechanic to look it up if he can.

That's, I think, much better. Leave it to em to avoid another problem that may occur. Just watch em do it so you'll know how to handle it the next time.
