I am a first time buyer and I need a cheap car, someone down the street is getting rid of their 1980 bmw 320i.
It has 195,000 miles and looks like it needs some minor repair work outside the car.
Should I even consider buying this as a first car?

it would really depend when the head gasket was changed... and if it has a fairly new thermostat...
water pump also...
