Took my 99 jeep Laredo in for an oil change yesterday, now today the oil pressure is pegging out to 80 lbs. For six years it has stayed at 40 lbs.  Comes down a little(to 60) at idle. Took it back in, oil level is ok, they changed the oil filter again, but still high pressure. They didn't touch anything else when I first brought it in. I don't think the sending unit JUST happened to go bad now, but they want to change it.  Not overheating. Any ideas?  Thank You

You want to verify the oil pressure with an external gage, connect at sending unit location. However you may find that the oil pump has a relief spring problem, In that case you need to replace the pump.

well, before you changed the oil, it was working correctly.  it probably has nothing to do with the oil pump. since it is a 99 laredo, i *** that you haven't done anything like flushing the engine first before an oil change.  it may have a clogged passageways that a pressure build up would occur.  an example would be how we water the plants. with smaller hole at the end, water flow would decrease thus adding more pressure to the pipe itself.  this is only an idea that may help you solve your problem.

you can also buy a synthetic oil thru that site if you want to convert it to synthetic to even prolong your engine life thus saving you more money on engine repair.  i hope this helps.  let us know if your problem has been solved.  thanks.

easy thing is might be the worng oil, maybe they put in full synthetic and your car cant handle that or what not. it's worth checking into and much easier to flush and replace.
