How do I reset/reload my theft deterrent system on a '98 toyota rav4.  I left my ignition key on overnite.  Upon trying to jump start, it seems the theft deterrent system kicked in and now the car will not start.  No lights display anywhere interior or exterior.  The starter turns it over, however.  

charge the battery fully on a charger... once done...

close all the doors...  you can leave the drivers window down... if you want...

lock the drivers door with a key...     wait 30 seconds.. unlock the drivers door with the same key...   get in.. it should start...

it might be possible that the keys may have to be reprogrammed into the system...  

Wayne,  Thanks for responding.  Unfortunately, you cure did not work.  Here's the full detail.  A few months ago, I disconnected the battery cable to do some work on the car. After reconnecting everything the car would not start.  No power.  The local agency walked be through the process and the procedure of resetting the theft deterrent system(tds).  He explained the car thought it was being stolen so all electrical shut down.  There is a small (1/4 " diameter)tds button on the lower panel of the dash left of the steering column.  The resetting process has to do with this button.
This time around, I left the ignition on overnite.  Battery was run down. Tried to jump.  Strong turn over but no start.  I recharged the battery which is now full charge.  Engine turns over strongly, but still no start.   I show no idiodt lights on the dash.  Usually they all come on when key is turned to "on" then they go off after start.  No lights showing on dash.  no rear exterior lights.  no radio.  no window pwr.    The headlights, interestly come on with the switch.  
The cure has to do with the proper sequence at the tds button, but I can't remember the code and the owners manual gives no info.

Any further ideas?  Jim
