New emissions and fuel standards have automakers pushing for new technology, performance, and quality. President Obama has stated that he is demanding greener cars for the 21st century and certain states, California included, have demanded for stricter emission standards. With this said, where do muscle cars land in this controversy?
The Mustang, Camaro, and Challenger have finally reunited once again to spark this legendary war of American Muscle. However, I fear that the return of these icons may be the last we see of them. Let's face it, when we hear Mustang, Camaro, or Challenger we hear power. Not fuel efficient. We hear Horsepower. Not emissions. We hear a thunderous Roar. Not a hybrid. So what can we do to keep these icons alive?
How about adding a hybrid engine to them? Well I can hear the list of complaints with that idea. Some people think diesel might be a way to go. Problem with that is the emissions. Which leads us to electric. Who here would enjoy having an electric mustang? camaro? challenger? With technology at its best I think it can happen. However, who here would really buy an electric muscle car? I mean one of the reasons we buy them is to burn rubber and hear the thunderous roar!!! With an electric engine that roar is now gone....and putting a speaker imitating a V8 engine is just lame. So what do you think? You think an electric muscle car is the way to go or are we going to say goodbye to them soon?
Life.....It's not about how hard you can hit but how hard you can get hit and keep pushing forward, how much you can take and keep pushing forward! - Rocky Balboa
