are you sure that is it not a duel temp control car... many of them had dual temp controls ... drivers side .. passenger side...

the Cadillac system is fully computerized... it will turn on the a/c service light if there is a problem...

the only thing that won't usually set a trouble code is if there is a vacuum leak to one of the actuators... or one of the actuators has a leaky actuator..

exactly which model cad do you have.. there are several ... and they have slightly different systems...

when you turn on the key..(do not start the motor, do not have your foot on the brake pedal) .. and on the a/c control panel...   push and hold the OFF and WARMER buttons at the same time... in a few seconds... the dash board should have every light come on..  let go of the buttons when the dash lights come on ..  look for one of the displays.. flashing codes...  you will be able to read these codes...     write them down.. post them... along with you model...   there may be no codes... there may be a bunch of them...  each code has at least one page of trouble shooting...

one time a few years back... at a shop i got calls when they could not fix something..   they had a cad there with broken ac...  it was the power module under the hood..  they replaced that...  and the customer came back angry...   the service ac light would come on...  they took the dash apart before calling me.. i got there... they told me everything checked out... no codes.. except the service ac light would come on..  i said show me...  they started the car... the light came on when the car started...    stayed on a few seconds... and went off...    he pointed at it... see it came on... it never did before...   i said the ac has been broken for years...  there was no power to that light.. and it turns on for bulb check..

i think that autozone will have some trouble shooting on the ac control system..  you can access it also...  but you need the exact model...

I have a 2001 deville, just has an on and off button which controls the temp from 60deg
and up. I am not getting any codes and I don't have a warmer button, just a mode and fan button. Do these vents have vacuum units which open and close the vent channels? if so, where are they located. As I said I get cold air from the 2 passenger side
vents and normal air from the 2 driver vents which with time tend to get a little
cooler but nothing like the passenger side vents.

i would bet that there is a mode to set one side warmer than the other...   look in the owners manual before going doing anything else...   perhaps one of the other techs that post here can add to this...

here is a picture of the actuators... but you really need to check the system.. that it is not functioning properly...

i am almost sure that most models were dual temp systems...  do you still have the owners manual... gone through all the modes...

this gif was over at autozone..

http://repairguide.autozone.com/znetrgs/repair_guide_content/en_us/images/0900c152/80/24/68/62/medium/0900c15280246862.gif

but they have limited a/c info...

without the owners manual.. you might be in trouble...

professional data is available at

eautorepair.net...    or alldatadiy.com...    but you really will need a scan tool that will talk to all the systems.. not just the OBD2 emissions system...

i have found this unit will read more systems on US built cars... gm ford and chrysler...

http://www.amazon.com/Autel-MaxiDiag-US703-Diagnostic-Scan/dp/B001LHVPPU

other units will also work...  but be careful... not all scan tools will read all the manufacturers codes... there are way over 2000 codes...   and good scan tools can control many devices for testing... i have not had my hands on this exact model.. but i have a lesser model of theirs... sold through harbor freight...  and just covers engine data... i use it all the time...

I am having the same issue. I have a 2001 Cadillac deville DTS. Did you find a solution to this problem? I have dual climate but I know that is not the problem. I found some other people that have this occur in their cars too and some of them had success with adding freon. A couple of others had the actuator (or something like that) replaced.

Maybe there's a blockage that hinders the coolant from reaching the driver vents. You might want to check it. Also, try checking for leaks. These are just minor stuffs that you could check.I hope this helps.

to the last post...  there is only one heater core...  all the magic is done with flapper doors controlled by vacuum actuators managed by the a/c programmer...

this allows different temps from the left or right sides...

this can be fun... with some extra vacuum hose...

when my brother was young.. he switched the controls on mom and dads electric blanket...  mom was cold all night.. dad was baked...
