you will have to copy and paste this link in a new window..

it is the wiring diagram for the starter circuit for 2000 full sized gm trucks with gas engines...

do you get power on the purple wire  going into the clutch switch when you turn the key????  they will be thin wires not the thick ones you would think...  that is do to the relay up under the hood...

if the clutch switch is working properly... there will be power on the purple and white wire when you depress the clutch pedal and have the key turned to the crank position... but all of that just operated a relay in the under hood fuse block...

hopefully the relay box has a label on it... so you can tell one relay from another...

when you bypass the cranking circuit ... by jumping the S terminal to the top post on the starter does it crank... make sure it is in Neutral.. with the brakes on..  the ignition key does not have to be on..  to test the system for a cranking test.. this will verify that the starter is getting the proper amount of current to crank the engine if the solenoid gets it power...

I would like to thank you very much for your help about my not functioning Chevy Truck Starter. I was reading your other comment about Chevy Silverado Starter and I noticed my Truck had the same problem as you solved for some one els.
Well I never thought my truck has an Alarm system and I was trying to start my truck with my spare Key, this caused the Alarm go on and light start blinking and disable the starter to start.
I used my original Key with Alarm off and noticed the red light went off and I am able to start.

2001 ML Mercedes Benz in very good condition but one thing makes me fill not be happy about it and it is the bad electrical work with all German Cars.
First the rear Door lock stopped working about 6 months ago and now the passenger door stopped locking. I can not lock the door either with remote or with key. Since the doors are unlocked my ML thinks doors are not locked and any time I stop and go it want to lock the door once again but can not it does Click Click but nothing ells.
Could you please tell me what could be one off the thousand problems I can look in to that?
I appreciate your help.

i have not had to work on any of the newer benzes...  but it if works with vacuum like earlier models.. and you live in a place where it rains a lot or you wash the car a lot .....

i would pull the door panel  off the offending door...   on a benz this usually takes less than 2 minutes...  and you have to push it UP after you get the few screws out...  not pull it out...

check the vacuum solenoid.. that it is not rusted so it won't move...     the rod  that goes to the knob pushed through and the plastic retainer can now be pushed back to drop the ring end of the actuator...   see if it moves...  it takes a 8mm nutdriver to loosen the screws that hold the actuator in place.. there are slots  in the panel..

it is also possible that the latching parts have failed.. frozen..  bound,,  gone on the Fritz... it is a german car...

open the door... close the catches with a screwdriver end... squirt some wd40 in there...   pull the door handle and use the screw driver to open the catches... then try the door..

with the door open.. the latch will not lock..   you have to close the catches completely...   2 clicks each... top and bottom catch..

wait... open the door...   use the screw driver to close the catches..   see if it works... if the door strike is out of adjustment.. and it is only closing on the first catch... the door will not lock...   maybe thats your problem..

you can also tell by gently closing the door...    see if you can feel the first catch ....   then a push it again.. see if you can feel it catch a little tighter... on the second catch...  both top and bottom claws have double catches.. if one does not fully seat on the second.. the lock will not operate...
