I have been having an issue with my Suburban engine shutting off at varying speeds. It started out only happening after the engine had run for a couple of hours but now it will cut off after only 20 - 30 minutes. I have the 5.3 liter engine. I know that the 6.1 liters had this same problem and it was an ignition sensor. Anyone with the 5.3 engine having these same problems?

did the check engine light come on after the restart and stay on???
most failures like you describe will set a trouble code...
with a scan tool... you can see many failures...
i wonder if the ignition switch may be going bad...
so many things... have someone scan it...

They haven't been able to pull any codes. Check engine light doesn't come on afterwards. Thanks for the reply.

I'm having the exact same problem with my 2002 Suburban 5.3. It acts like the fuel just shuts off but i don't know if its the fuel pump.

I have a 2002 Chevy Suburban 2500 with the 8.1, and I just started encountering the engine shut off during driving. It all started around 95K. I just turn 100K and had the 100K service, everything check OK, no errors in log. The first time it happen I thought it was the fuel filter, but I was told that mine does not have one.
