Hi all, this is my first post. I have a 1996 mitsubishi Montero 2.5 intercooler turbo diesel engine. Whenever i shut off the engine it makes a hard rattling noise. Can anyone advise me?

could be the turbo bearings going bad. as the turbo spins down...
i hope that you are not one of the people who rev the motor just before shutting it off..
remember the turbo shafts are supported on pressurized oil... when you shut off the motor.. the oil stops... but the turbo may still be spinning...
there are several other things it could be... find a good diesel truck shop.. pop the hood... let them take a listen...
