I need help!   I drive a 1985 Jeep Wagoneer, the ignition switch is stuck open and I have to disconect and reconnect the power (battery & Alternator)to the starter EACH time I start and stop my car. I've gotten so far as to take off the steering wheel, but now there is something  I can't figure out how to get past.    Does anybody know HOW to get to the ignition switch to replace it, please

autozone has the information to get the locking plate off if you log in and click on the repair info...   look under the suspension and steering.. then in the steering section again...    how to remove your lock cylinder is there... but you will find more info that you will need on replacing the turn signal switch...    the pictures are there to remove the lock plate...

autozone and other parts stores have the lock plate tool to rent or buy... i have done them without a tool... but i was really strong... and have been doing it for decades...   rent the tool....there are 2 different threads on the nut..  be sure to thread the puller shaft all the way down till it fits flush ... that way you can slide the snap ring up on the tool .. so you can just slide it back down when you are done..

oh.. your email does not work... i tried to send some info directly to you...
