When I start my 5 speed 1995 acura integra after I not using it for > 2-3 hours and then I drive it for a short while say < 10 minutes and when I restart within 5-10 minutes, It cranks but does not start. Then I have to not try cranking for 1-2 minutes and then after prolonged cranking it sputters and starts. This behavior is aggravated when it rains. There is no problems in the morning or after stopping and starting after long periods says 5-6 hours.

I took it to honda dealer (no acura dealer in my town) and he tried to reproduce this problem at least twice - leaving it for 2-4 hours and trying to start but he could not reproduce the problem. Initially he had suggested the relay but other symptoms did not fit that remedy.

Any suggestions.
The car has 130k miles. It was running fine till last august when I started having this problem.

did you change the efi main relay under the dash board????????//????????/

that really does sound like the problem...

the relays have several problems...      dirty contacts... and      cracked solder joints...   if you know how to solder ... take the relay apart and check the circuit board for circular cracks on the individual solder connections... you will need a good lens to see them...   it is also possible that the electric fuel pump is going bad...  but it is powered through the efi main relay.  so start there...

have you inspected the inside of the distributer??? if it has one...   rust inside... bad... you might need to replace the lower distributer housing....  they are available from honda parts...  the partial distributer has new electronics in it.. just swap over your ignitor and coil...  be sure to match numbers stamped into the mounting feet...  much better than most reman distributers..

The local honda dealer said that the relay was ok. There was no dry solder etc.

But he mentioned that the wiring for the alarm might be interfering with the the ignition.

He suggested taking out the alarm system included wiring - would be 2 hrs of labor.

Also during the problem occurs when the car finally splutters, there is a lot of smoke, the mechanic said that the car get s a lot of gasoline, but there is no spark.
