Okay... apparently between my last wash and this, a bird pooped on my hood. However, this time it actually ate through the clear coat protection on the paint. Does anyone know/suggest a good way to fix this? It doesn't need to be perfect looking. Even if it looks the same as now (small circular spot) that's okay. I just want to keep the paint from being damaged and the look of it getting worse. Do they have kits for this? How much will something like this cost? Thanks, -Alex
Bird poop is acidic and if you leave it on your paint (even just a few days) it will "etch" into your clear coat. What you need to do is get that area polished with some quality polishing compound (like Menzerna's Intensive Polish) on a foam pad on a rotary polisher (porter cable makes a nice one), also known as leveling. This will take off some of your clear coat, but it will even it all out so you can't see the etch markings anymore. Then you should go over that with a fine polish if you see any remaining swirls. Then top off with a quality synthetic wax like Klasse All In One.
