Hi! Have '07 Subaru OB 4 cyl with 225/50/17 Bridgestone Potenza RE92A tires. I know these are LRR tires. I also know they have a fair amount of road noise and the ride is on the harsh side due to the 50 series sidewall. I don't like the noise, I don't like the harshness. I am willing to give up a bit of fuel economy if I have to. Our other car is a Volvo XC70 with 215/65/16 Conti's. The Volvo is wider and almost 6-700 pounds heavier and it drives fine with the 65 series sidewall. The two tires have almost the exact same dimension except for the sidewall on the Conti's which has a much taller sidewall. In my opinion going from a 50 to a 65 series sidewall will give me a softer ride, and if I pick a better tire than the Potenza's I will have a quieter, softer ride...with a bit more body roll. Appreciate any replies!!!!! Bill

The problem is not related to tyre series. If you maintain the exact air pressure of the tyre, then your vehicle will be smooth and noiseless on roads.
