anyone else have this experience, if so, pls share good/bad. i am new to this car buying stuff. we are in a bit of a rush to get a 2nd car. found a private party selling 2003 volvo v40 with 22K. seller was honest, said he is currently leasing it, he would have to buy outright before title is transferred, taking 3 weeks or more. we are pre-approved for financing. seller is wary that we will change our minds before he gets title and he'll be stuck w/vehicle but we want, love and need the car.

our credit union says all they need is a lease buyout letter, simple bill of sale stating asking price, and copy of current registration. this has taken 3 weeks and we're renting a 2nd vehicle, costing us ***

how do i find out about getting the warranty transferred to us once the deal is done? do i need to get it in writing?

if i don't have a "regular" mechanic to take the vehicle to for inspection where should i go? the dealer that sold it to him new?
