My Taurus has been making a sound similar to a loose accessory belt but after I finally decided to look it was coming from close to where the throttle is which is covered by a plastic piece that I removed.  Anyone have any ideas.  Again it sounds kinda like a slipping belt but it sounds more like a bird chirping rapidly.  

Can you tell me if you found the answer to your problem?  I would really appreciate since I have encountered the same situation.  The mechanic doesn't know what is wrong.  thank you very much

The third answer is probably the problem.  

MOST LIKELY THE PROBLEM IS THE "CAMSHAFT SYNCHRONIZER"; I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM ON MY
2002 FORD TAURUS AND A NEW ONE FIXED IT (THAT CHIRPING NOISE AT IDLE).  I ALSO HAD
A JERKY IDLE AT TIMES (IT FELT LIKE THE ENGINE WAS GOING TO CUT OFF).  THE NEW
CAMSHAFT SYNCHRONIZER FIXED IT.  I HEAR THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH TAURES'S.

THAT CHIRPING NOISE COMES FROM THE "CAMSHAFT SYNCHRONIZER";  I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AND A NEW ONE FIXED IT.  ALSO, I HAD A JERKY IDLE AT TIMES AND THAT WAS CORRECTED WITH THE NEW CAMSHAFT SYNCHRONIZER.
