We have had this car in England since 2004, first it was badged Daewoo Lacetti and now it is a Chevrolet Lacetti. The Aveo is not based on the simply awful Daewoo Kalo, thankfully! It is a Lacetti re-badged for the North American market. This Itlaian style hatchback or saloon is a decent budget car. I bought a 2005 auto 1.6 SX model with 3,000 mile on the clock for £6,000 a short time ago. The manual version have noisy engines and a gruff sound when cruising on a motorway (freeway). it quite happily cruises at 85mph on the British Motorway, and brakes smoothly near speed cameras. It is not a VW Golf, nor does it cost that much. In the UK we pay the equalivant of over $6.20 for a gallon of gas, so econmy is important. It is cheap insurance and parts are reseasonabke. It is well protected aginst rust, and it is stable on the road. To sum up it is a decent economy 5 door hatchback which will get you from A to B with little effort. Easy to park and cheap to run.
Oh and it is very good on our country lanes down here in Sussex, even when one meets a tractor coming the other way!

It will be interesting to see and compare the upcoming 2007 Aveo:
