Just bought a 91 accord dx, they said the power steering hose had a leak so they disconnected everything. When I got it home, I ordered a new belt, reassembled everything but there's no leak. But now, the car seems to want to make sharp lefts all the time. I didn't have any problems with the alignment before, anyone have any ideas??? I'm stumped.

the rack seals have blown out ... so the pressure through the valve is leaked into one side of the ram...
warning hondas use special power steering fluid... anything else will total out the system...
invest in a few quarts of honda power steering fluid.. and flush the system before you change out the rack... that way.. it will all be fresh clean fluid before you put the replacement rack in...
AND most important... accords of that years need to have the right side tie rod adjusted before you do the left...
with the motor off and the wheels off ... you have to adjust the tie rod so the caliper does not hit the fork on the bottom of the shock when the rack is all the way to one side..
after setting the other side... and getting the toe in adjusted... remove the steering wheel horn button.. the retaining nut and center the steering wheel by repositioning it on the shaft..
what happens... is if the adjustments are wrong.. when you turn the wheel all the way to the stop.. the back of the brake caliper hits the suspension.. this retracts the piston... and the brake pedal goes to the floor... like the brake master cylinder just failed...
oh.. you can tell that the rack is bad... jack it up... start the motor... i bet the steering wheel will turn on its own...
